2011 GCBDPA Interview Technique and Mock Interview Workshops- July 9th and 16th, 2011

The Inteviewing Technique workshop was a success as students prepared for their mock interviews  on July 16th. The students participated in hands-on exercises where proper and improper  dress attire were demonstrated for an interview;students practice proper handshake, posture and correct responses to interview questions.

During the Mock Interview Workshop on July 16th, our students were interviewed by 16 professionals from various businesses within the Greater Columbia area.

The interview questions:
  1. Tell me about yourself.
  1. Tell me about the most difficult task/project you ever faced
  • What was the situation?
  • How did you handle it?
  • What was the outcome from the decision made?
  1. Tell me about a time when you had to juggle several projects/tasks/initiatives at one time.
  • What was the situation?
  • How did you handle it?
  • What was the outcome from the decision made?
  1. Have you done anything in the last year to develop new skills/improve yourself in relation to the requirements of this job?

Interviewer Instructions:
  • Each student were asked all 4 questions.
  • Interviewing panelists rated each question from a scale of 1 – 4 along with ratings for attire/appearance, presentation and dialogue and will tally the scores.
  • After all interviews were done, students returned to their prospective panelist for feedback and their interview score.
  • Interview panelists and students gathered in the lab for a final group discussion.
