2011 Proposed Bylaw Submission


If no candidate is nominated for a particular office or position to be filled at an annual meeting, or if there is no candidate by reason of death or of any other cause, the Board of Directors shall fill the vacancy by a majority vote at its next meeting following the annual meeting of the Association.


Candidate Biography's

Dr. Craig Brown, PhD

I have established a 24 year career serving as an expert systems and database architect within leading technologies like Oracle, Oracle-PeopleSoft, SAP, IBM and Microsoft. My experiences are more particular to the Enterprise Resource Planning, Decision Support and Relational Database Management Systems technologies. I have earned over 20 certifications within these technological areas and currently provide implementation and integration expertise along with a variety of other technological disciplines. I hold a BS in Computer Science as well as a Master's in Business and a Doctorate in Management Information Systems.

With my background in business and information technology I should be able to more than satisfy the duties and responsibilities of the National Vice President. As an effective communicator and motivator along with a commanding voice I can help to delegate and/or lead efforts that should help make the BDPA a leading and prominent technological entity within the communities that it services within the duties associated with the National Vice President position. If elected I will help bring activities to the table that are related to getting people exposed to high technological arena's that may influence educational goals and career choices that will increase the minority presence within the IT Markets. The BDPA membership should see an influx of opportunities that will help those that are interested acquire skills to either start or improve their chances for landing IT related employment opportunities or improve their technological advantages within their own businesses.

Allison Aheart Haymore

Allison Aheart Haymore has over 14 years of leadership and management experience in corporate and non-profit business environments with special focus on budgeting and resource management, business process improvement, technology implementation, business & research analysis, software application management & administration, and project management across multiple disciplines. She is diplomatic, an effective communicator, a problem solver, a relationship builder, and an asset to any leadership team.

Allison has a passion for teaching and sharing information technology concepts with the youth in the community. She owns and operates two businesses: Aheart Management Firm, LLC, and Gorgeous Geeks, LLC. She obtained a Bachelor's degree in Business Information Systems from Virginia Commonwealth University and an MBA in Global Management from the University of Phoenix. She believes that all of her talents and gifts are a blessing from God. She follows the "Each One, Reach One, Teach One” principle and her life mottos are "Knowledge is Power” and "Teamwork Makes the Dream Work”.

In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her son, volunteering and serving for Speaking Spirit Ministries, spreading the Gospel, mentoring the youth, and helping others. Allison believes that all too often the children in our community are at a disadvantage as a result of socioeconomic conditions. Possessing computer skills in today's world is an absolute necessity, not to mention a valuable skill to have. Her association with BDPA has provided her the opportunity to provide solutions to this problem.

I began my affilation with BDPA as a student member in 2000. Since that time I have been a professional member and have served many roles to include Director of Fundraising, College Chapter Liaison, and HSCC Chaperson for the Richmond Chapter, the Founding member & VP of Business Management for the Hampton Roads chapter.  I am excited about the opportunity to continue serving BDPA and supporting our growth efforts and our mission to bridge to digital divide taking our members from the classroom to the boardroom.

Frederick Smith Jr.

Frederick Smith, Jr. is a seasoned business and technological executive with 25 years of experience in IT Senior Management at various industries. As EVP, Chief Information Officer of MTT Associates, he drives the overall strategic vision and operations for the company with a focus on customer success.
Prior to joining MTT Associates, Mr. Smith was Sr. Manager, Advanced Technology at Lockheed Martin Corporation.
Mr. Smith has a BS in Computer Science and Management, Master of Engineering in Industrial Engineering and MBA in Finance. Mr. Smith also received his Black Belt certification in Lean / Six Sigma.

Frederick Smith, Jr. is a seasoned business and technological executive with 25 years of experience in IT Senior Management at various industries which include Financial Services, Healthcare, Utilities, Communications and Government industries, with a strong background in business management, enterprise system architecture and information system delivery. As EVP, Chief Information Officer of MTT Associates, he drives the overall strategic vision and operations for the company with a focus on customer success.

Mr. Frederick Smith, Jr. served as the 2009 National BDPA Vice President, Strategy & Planning. In this position, he was responsible for providing the strategic approach for meeting the organization goals and ensuring that its vision and mission are effectively realized through measures and quantifiable standards. Responsibilities also include managing the organizational alliances, conducting assessments of National BDPA, and improving the image of National BDPA. Also, Mr. Smith served as VP, Strategy & Planning, VP, Finance, Corporate Advisory Council, Chairman and IT Showcase Advisor for the BDPA Northern Delaware Chapter. Mr. Smith assisted in the successful completion of obtaining a 501c3 status for BDPA Northern Delaware Chapter (NDC).

Prior to joining MTT Associates, Mr. Smith was Sr. Manager, Advanced Technology at Lockheed Martin Corporation. Mr. Smith's organization consisted of 125 engineers, project managers and system architects focusing on business development, system engineering services, proposal development and technical program support. He brought a focus of business and technology to his Sr. Management role at Lockheed Martin Corporation.

Mr. Smith has a BS in Computer Science and Management from California University of Pa, Master of Engineering in Industrial Engineering from Penn State University and MBA in Finance from Philadelphia University. Mr. Smith also received his Black Belt certification in Lean / Six Sigma.

Mr. Smith's professional and academic experience in the STEM discipline in combination with his business acumen would be an asset to the National BDPA organization and its members. Mr. Smith has a vast professional network including influential professionals that can support the mission and vision of the BDPA organization. He has demonstrated his passion and dedication to the organization through his work at both the National and Local level. If elected, his goals will include the expansion of partnerships at both the corporate and local government sector, increase chapter membership throughout the region, and enhance the student programs to increase scholarship and internship opportunities.

Coram Rimes

Thirty four years of corporate work experience with various roles in marketing & sales, technology, auditing, physical security and information technology for the past 20 years. During my career, I have been challenged with increased responsibility from supervisory level, middle management, corporate officer and currently I have been a director for the past ten years. I have been fortunate to work for major corporation, i.e., AT&T, Verizon, Bank of New York, and Federal Reserve Bank of New York, TIAA-CREF and Prudential.
These work environments have provided me with background to aspire to be the best and achieve the highest goals.

Barbara Allen

I live in Cleveland, Ohio, and I moved here in January of 2007. I had been in Northern California for over 27 years, relocating from Cleveland, Ohio in 1980.

I am a past Consultant – Applications Programmer and Software Quality Assurance, with Bank of America, for 19 years. I was laid off in 2005 due to a reduction in work force, and I have been searching for a job since then. I found a job at Washington Mutual in September of 2006, but it was unstable and I returned to the Cleveland area in 2007 year when I received a job offer from University Hospitals (UH).

I graduated from UOP- Online with a BSIT, Programming and Operating Systems specialty, in 2003, after several years of pursuing a Bachelor's beginning with Pre-Med in Ohio at Case WRU, and proceeding through University of Phoenix (UOP) ground campus, then to Cal State Hayward, and finally back to UOP in 2000. I started my Masters Degree – MBA in Tech Management, in late 2003. I completed it in January of 2006. I also received my Masters of Science in Accountancy at UOP in 2010. Further, I received a Six Sigma Yellow Belt from Baldwin-Wallace College, Cleveland Ohio, in 2011.

I have been a BDPA member since the inception of the East Bay Chapter (California) in 1993 or 1994. I was co-chair of Communications (?). I also served briefly as VP – Finance in the Cleveland Chapter, recently. I am a past Toastmasters member, past Junior Achievement volunteer, and I have been recognized in Who's Who of American Women. I am also a member of National Black MBA Association, and a Health Information Management Systems Society member (HIMSS). I served as a Shelter Manager for the Red Cross during the recovery from one of the California earthquakes.

I am a Testing Analyst in the Information Technology arena at University Hospitals. I am involved in the testing of Eclipsys/Allscripts software applications related to health care. I also do performance testing and script automation. I am also a Production Support Team member, supporting the Electronic Medical Record at University Hospitals.

I have four small businesses, flipping real estate, accounting services, value-added computer equipment sales and services, including assisting Senior Citizens with using their computers, and a home care service for Seniors, running errands and providing companionship. I have formerly sold, rented or leased real estate in California and Ohio as an individual and as a Realtor, and I perform Tax-related services.

I have three children, all grown. My oldest is in Ohio working for UPS in management, and my middle child, a son, too, is in Idaho serving an internship in Marketing, and helping to raise my three grandsons and granddaughter. My youngest is a young woman now, a graduate of Saint Mary's College, and an alumnus of Duke University, working in California.

I like reading, bowling, jazz music, ice skating, accounting, and I used to be a good swimmer but haven't done much swimming lately. I like computers, too, which is a good thing! I also read and write French – took it at CWRU for 2 years. Took a year of Spanish there, too, but can barely order breakfast in that language. Earlier in 2006 I took a conversational French class and re-invigorated my skills in that class. I plan to unearth my Spanish tutorial CD's and revisit my skills in that area, as well.

I am looking forward to being fully involved in BDPA, and representing the Midwest Region as Vice President, if elected.

Teresa Williams

Teresa is a Sr. Project Manager at NASCO and recently earned her certification as a Project Management Professional from the Project Management Institute. Teresa also earned her Master of Science in Technology Management from Mercer University in Atlanta, GA. Teresa has been a active member of the BDPA since 2005 and served on the BDPA National Board of Directors during the years of 2007-2009 during her term as President of the Atlanta Chapter.

Member of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA) since 1991. Served a chapter president of the Hidden Hills Chapter for 3 yrs. Chairman and numerous chapter offices. Chairman of the ABWA Atanta Area Council 2002, ABWA District I Vice President 2002-2003, ABWA National Secretary-Treasurer 2003-2004. Member of the ABWA Inner Circle, responsible for introducing 33 new members to ABWA. Charter member of the Hidden HIlls Chapter, Southlake Chapter, and Atlanta Downtown Express Network.

27 years of experience in Information Technology. Currently holds the position of Sr. Project Manager with NASCO as a member of the PMO team responsible for one of the company's large scale implementations/migrations for one of our newest Blue Cross & Blue Shield customers.

Have had the pleasure of teaching a Computer class part-time at Georgia Perimeter College since 1999.

Active member of BDPA since 2005. Served as BDPA Atlanta Chapter President 2007-2009.
