William Flowers, Outside Director
William is the Vice President and Chief Information Officer of the Information Technology Services department at Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport. During the past 14 years, as VP/CIO he has instigated the replacement, upgrade and revitalization of all Airport technologies. He has changed the perception of the ITS department throughout the Airport by insisting on exceptional customer service, high levels of reliability and economically sound solutions. During his tenure, he has been the driving force in the deployment of advanced technologies at DFW. Among his numerous accomplishments are:
Successful Opening of the new International Terminal D at DFW Airport. Hailed as one of the most technologically advanced airport terminal in the nation. Consolidation of multiple Closed Circuit Television offices into one centralized more efficient team. The centralized office provides premiere surveillance capability for all of DFW Airport. Implementation of the Distributed Antenna System that was one of the first of its kind to enhance travelers and airport employees’ ability to use their cellular telephones without encountering "dead spots”.
He fully recognizes the difficult economic situations faced by the aviation industry and how those conditions affect the financial success of the Airport. Mr. Flowers has accumulated over 28 years of aviation technology experience. His stature in the Aviation industry is well recognized. His reputation as a leader and an innovator has lead to his many appointments including Chair of the AAAE Information Technology Committee, Vice Chair of the ACI-BIT Committee and Steering Committee, and former President of the Dallas Chapter of Black Data Processing Associates (BDPA). Mr. Flowers holds a degree in Computer Science.
