National BDPA's Washington, D.C. Chapter Reaches 35-Year Milestone in 2013
The Washington, D.C. Chapter of National BDPA (NBDPA) was founded in 1978 by Norman Mays. It received its Charter in 1981 and became an IRS Section 501(c)(3) Public Charity to bridge digital divides and broaden opportunities for under-served communities in emerging Information Communications Technology (ICT) fields of interest. Today, BDPA-DC and its neighboring chapters provide a wide spectrum of technical support, talent acquisition, and career services to area students, BDPA Members, and corporate sponsors. BDPA-DC leverages its Chapter-as-a-Service (CaaS) business model with local vendors, sponsors, qualified or under-employed volunteers, interns, and subject matter experts (SME's) to maintain operations for social media portals, provide multimedia content and provisioning services, manage contracts, grants, and [Federal] government relations for NBDPA and participating BDPA Chapters.
