HSCC Administration
For those conducting training programs to prepare a team to participate in the National High School Computer Competition, access will be required for these administration tools.
Forums
The HSCC Community communicates primarily through Forums The National HSCC Coordinators use these forums to communicate key information throughout the year to assist Coordinators via HSCC-Coordinators, Trainers via HSCC-Technical, and Students via HSCC-Students. Additionally, these forums serve as the area to share best practices and support for all chapters. It is essential that at least one individual join each one of these forums for each local BDPA Chapter competing at the conference. Click here to setup your userid for these forums.
HSCC File Respository
The HSCC File Repository allows direct access to all HSCC related files. Chapters can share budgets, sample programming problems, project plans, etc. The National HSCC Coordinators share information and resources, such as, Competition Programming Software, Forms required to compete, and Meeting Minutes. Each Chapter President will receive a userid and password to be shared with individuals needing access to this file repository. Use ssh to retrieve and save files.
Administrative Tasks
Throughout the year, the National HSCC Coordinators require information from the attending chapters. Here is a summary of the tasks which need to be completed in order to compete.
- By the end of March, the total number of students being trained in each chapter's program must be submitted to the National HSCC Coordinators.
- By the end of March, a commitment from all chapters planning to compete at the conference must be submitted to the National HSCC Coordinators.
- Throughout the year, there will be "Train the Trainer" conference calls held by the National HSCC Coordinators. The goal of these sessions is to answer questions of instructors and give guidance on establishing schedules and topics. See the HSCC-Technical forum or the bdpa.org calendar for the scheduled dates.
- By July 3, 2005, most chapters have identified the team of students competing at the conference. The National HSCC Coordinators need to know the names of these students. If the team has not been chosen by this time, the National HSCC Coordinators must know when to expect the information. All chapters must register their students for the conference.
- Once a team is identified, the National HSCC coordinators require a biography of each student as well as the coordinator(s) with one photo of the entire team. See the HSCC-Coordinators forum for submission details. Once the competition is over, these photos and bios will be published on the bdpa.org website. Please review the 2004 Competition area of this site for a sample of the postings.
- In the month of July, the chaperones for each chapter must be identified and registered.
- During the month of July, 3 conference calls are conducted by the National HSCC Coordinators for all Chaperones. The goal of these sessions is to explain the responsibilities and expectations for chaperones, coordinators, and students. It is mandatory for at least 1 coordinator or chaperone from all chapters sending a team to participate in one of these calls. See the HSCC-Coordinators forum or the bdpa.org calendar for the scheduled call dates.
- For a team to be eligible there is a requirement for submission of a set of documents. The entire set of original documents must be physically mailed and received by August 1, 2005.
