Washington, D.C. Set to Celebrate Host Chapter's 35th Anniversary 2013BDPADC to Host 35th National BDPA Technology Conference & Career Expo
The Washington, D.C. Chapter of National BDPA (NBDPA) was founded in 1978 by Norman Mays. It received its Charter in 1981 to bridge the digital divide and broaden opportunities for under-served communities in emerging Information Communications Technology (ICT) fields of interest. The Chapter was incorporated in 1981 as a domestic not-for-profit corporation in the District of Columbia. In February of 1988, Black Data Processing Associates of Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area (d.b.a. BDPA-DC) became an IRS Section 501(c)(3) Public Charity. Today, BDPA-DC and its neighboring chapters provide a wide spectrum of technical support, talent acquisition, and career services to members, corporate sponsors, small business owners, educational institutions and local communities in the National Capital Region (NCR.) Regional and Local BDPA Chapter Interest Group (CIG) engagements in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) support NBDPA's mission. BDPA-DC maintains operations for social media portals, provides multimedia content and provisioning services, manages contracts, grants, and [Federal] government relations for NBDPA and participating BDPA Chapters.
