Description
:

Immediately following the H.O.P.E. Project IT Summit, the Town Hall is your opportunity to hear from - and ask questions of - IT industry experts, staffing and HR managers, as well as people who run IT departments. They'll talk about issues like the skills you'll need to get a job, and industry trends such as Help Desk, Network Administration, and Cyber. Concerned about getting a security clearance? They'll tackle that process, too.

Town Hall participants include: DC Workforce Investment Council Executive Director Odie Donald; Ward 8 Workforce Development Council Chair of the Board Carla Harris; U.S. Census Bureau IT Service Desk Manager Richard Honesty; Ashley Williams, DC Dept. of Employment Services Office of Youth Programs; BDPA-DC President Perry Carter (opening remarks).

This is a great opportunity for anyone to get introduced to the H.O.P.E. Project. The program, started in 2009, has been called the "Harvard of the Hood" because it has helped hundreds of District residents move from TANF and minimum wage jobs to earning an average of more than $42,000 a year - and in less than a year!
