BDPA hosts ‘Cincinnati Blacks In Technology’ to collaborate with the vibrant community of like-minded technology professionals of color in our city. The doors are wide open for those folks who are passionate about all things technical. Our meetups encourage fun, socializing and high level talks on a variety of technology topics. IT recruiters and IT job seekers are both welcome!
We are bringing three experienced IT recruiters to the roundtable. They will answer all of the questions you’ve always wanted to ask … but, were afraid to do. This will be an outstanding opportunity for anyone ... from college interns to entry-level IT professionals to experienced technicians, managers, or executives ... to ask questions and get answers about upward mobility in the IT industry. You’ll get the ‘inside scoop’ on what it takes to successfully land a job, promotion, or have a successful career in the IT industry.
We want our members and supporters to be prepared for thehuge number of career opportunities available in the IT industry!
Our panel includes:
• Karen Cooper (owner, SmartIT)
• Karen Lipscomb (senior talent acquisition manager, L3-Communications)
Linda Mullen (assistant VP, Fifth Third Bank)
Corporate America is rebounding from the Great Recession and unemployment continues to lag at levels that are much too high in the Black community and the Greater Cincinnati area. As such, we want to lift the curtain of secrecy about the recruitment process so that BDPA members and supporters have every advantage to advance their careers in the IT industry.
Each panel member wants to share their expertise and wisdom with BDPA members. Anyone ... regardless of race or color … interested in tech is welcome!
