IT Job Seeker Survey Results - Analysis Report Now Available

In October 2010 we asked job seekers to take a short
3-minute online survey to let us know how we could help them. The main objective
of the survey was to obtain feedback that we could use to assist job seekers.
This information not only provides a resource to meet our needs, it measures the
effectiveness of our services along with suggestions for improvements. The
survey contained Eight (8) questions. The total sample size for this survey
consisted of 69 participants.
Many job seekers were looking for us to provide additional
resources that are already available to them now. The question might be how can
they tap into the current services and apply the information to their specific
needs.

5 Steps to a Remarkable Personal Brand Strategy
by Tanya Smith

Personal brand marketing is a solid career management
technique. When you are doing the work to clearly identify your personal brand -
or the overall collection of perceptions that you want others to have about you
- it may not be as simple as jotting down a few notes on a memo pad.
Developing a brand strategy that describes the
irresistible, remarkable YOU can take some work, but once you have it, you can
apply the pieces to everything you communicate - e.g. resume, interview remarks,
online media, etc.

Three BDPA Students Showcase Entrepreneurial Talents with 3D Virtual Integration
of Facebook Called StartLounge

We often talk about BDPA being an organization that
provides programs and services that advance the careers of our members from the
'classroom to the boardroom'. I think that we will find the reality
behind those words in Rochester, MN. That is where three
past national BDPA High School Computer Competition (HSCC) champions have
joined together to create the StartLounge.
StartLounge is a visual, social interface that engages users with
3D-Facebook integration. StartLounge also gives you the power to preview
your Facebook news feeds and pictures that you are tagged in. The
co-founders indicate that the product is still in the development stages and
will be continually updated with cool new features.
The co-founders are student members of our
BDPA Southern Minnesota chapter:
James Arama,
Ahmed Mahamad and
Adwait Walimbe.

10 Best-Selling Gadgets of Holidays Past

Christmas: a time for family, reflection, and the frantic
unwrapping of presents amid the torn wrapping paper around the tree. Nothing
says "Happy holidays” quite like the look of delirious glee on someone’s face
when they unbox the latest tech gadget, whether it’s a kid getting their mitts
on an eagerly awaited video game system or a parent in love with the latest
creation from Apple. These are the electronic toys that once inspired tears of
joy, even though some of them have long since fallen by the wayside.
