Bio Dr. Wayne Applewhite

Dr. Wayne Applewhite serves as an Outside Director supporting the Business Management business area for National BDPA. In this position, he provides executive guidance and advice to the National Executive Board and the BDPA Board of Directors.

Dr. Applewhite has an eclectic experience base that he brings to the leadership community and to the nation at large. He has over 20 years of diverse and challenging leadership experiences, coupled with a solid foundation of continuing education. Wayne has been an Associate Professor for Boston University’s Metropolitan College in Virginia and Boston, Ma. He was also the Director of the Boston University’s Metropolitan College Graduate Military Programs in Virginia. As a side note, Wayne started teaching and working for Boston University at the Boston University, Metropolitan Campus in Brussels, Belgium. Additionally, Wayne has been an adjunct professor, instructor, lecturer, and teacher, at many other colleges and universities in the United States. He has also been an Associate Dean for the School of Business and Technology for Excelsior College.

He has been a successful national/international independent consultant with such clients as the Consulate General in Hamburg, Germany, NATO, and the National Board of the BDPA (Black Data Processing Associates), to name a few. As an independent consultant with international experiences, Wayne sees himself as not only a consultant with a diverse audience expertise, but more significantly as a life long learner. Wayne loves to read! Also to his credit, he authored and published, “Back to the Basics: A Handbook for Success in America,” and more recently, co-authored and completed another manuscript, titled, “Whose Vision is it Anyway?”

Wayne enjoys teaching and learning in the areas of Leadership, Process Improvement, Change Management, Team Building, and Translating Vision to Practice, Project/Program Management, and Self Efficacy on the micro and macro levels. Wayne developed and introduced a great tool called, “The SIP³”© Model, for Strategic Thought, and another that he calls the “Environmental Influence Model” which speaks to Active and Passive Strategic Positioning and Learning.

Wayne received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Resources Management from Troy State University, a Masters of Arts Degree in Management and Supervision with a concentration in Health Care Administration from Central Michigan University, and his Doctor of Management Degree in Systems Management from Colorado Technical University.
