Bio Norman Fleming

Norman Fleming serves as an Outside Director supporting the Strategy & Planning business area for National BDPA. In this position, he provides executive guidance and advice to the National Executive Board and the BDPA Board of Directors.

With over 22-years of management experience, Norm is currently providing Technology Integration Services to global clients at the Chicago office of Deloitte Consulting LLP. As a program leader in Deloitte’s Program Integration and Management service area, Norm designs, lead and operate large scale technology delivery programs with a strong focus on predictability, results management, method alignment, delivery, risk, quality and estimation. He also provides an integrated set of advisory and implementation services to CxOs and IT Executive Management.

Prior to Deloitte, Norm was an IT Leader at Merck & Co., responsible for implementing Process Excellence (CMMI, ITIL, PMBoK, Six Sigma) across the Global Human Health IT division. He also led IT initiatives in Strategic Offshore Outsourcing, Vaccine Product Launches, Database Marketing, Strategic Planning, Financial Planning, Campaign Management, and Customer Marketing Management Services at the Vaccine Division Headquarters in the Philadelphia area. Norm has overseen application development, project management; and annual, 5-year, and 10-year business planning processes for the entire division.

Serving as the first Merck internal “BDPA IS” Chairman, Norm was responsible for overseeing partnership activities between Merck and BDPA. He held BDPA “Lunch & Learn” sessions on the campuses of Merck and received approval for a strategic business case to provide long-term investments to BDPA as a Gold Sponsor. Prior to Merck, Norm was a Business Systems Leader for Kraft Foods, Inc. in the Chicago area. His enterprise-wide accounts receivable systems processed $20 billion in annual revenue for Kraft brands in North America. Norm has also been the Director of Client Services Systems at The New York Times Company in New York City. He led the development and integration of information systems across 135 distribution facilities within the United States.

Norm graduated magna cum laude and earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Information Systems from DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management. He earned his Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Management from Southern Illinois University, in Carbondale, IL.
