The 2011 Epsilon Awards will be presented at the 2011 National BDPA Technology Conference Awards Gala on Saturday, August 6th to be held in Chicago, IL at the luxurious Hilton Chicago Hotel.

PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT - Vince Edwards, Architect, State Farm Insurance Company - Vince Edwards is the 1st African American Architect at State Farm. He is responsible for setting direction for State Farm’s Enterprise Storage environment. As a Storage Architect, Vince not only sets direction internally but also works with major IT vendors in providing customer direction within the storage industry. In his career, Vince has held several key positions in major corporations including IBM, Caterpillar Tractor Company and State Farm. He always establishes an ability to perform at a high level, and bridge the gap between technical and business needs.
CAREER ACHIEVEMENT - Gregory Morrison, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Cox Enterprises Greg has had an extensive background, both domestic and internationally, in information systems. He is a conscientious, highly-skilled executive. His leadership, qualities and capability to develop and implement strategy are outstanding. Greg has an outstanding performance track record and is a dynamic leader who continues to exceed expectations. Greg is responsible for all facets of the information systems and transaction processing requirements at the corporate level. He is responsible for IT strategy development, the annual technology planning process, large-scale IT project management and governance, strategic vendor alliances, and leveraging business unit technology initiatives across the company.
Greg previously served as vice president of information systems at Prudential Financial, Inc., where he progressed through the ranks from 1989 to 2000. He left Prudential to become executive vice president and chief operating officer for RealEstate.com in early 2000. He rejoined the company in 2001 as vice president to help lead the due diligence and integration team for a $4B international acquisition.
OUTSTANDING TECHNICAL CONTRIBUTION - Stephen Paskel, Assistant Vice President, Technology Manager, Wells Fargo’s Technology Connection - As a leader in Wells Fargo’s Technology Connection group, which provides technical support and help desk services to Wells Fargo’s 280,000 team members, Stephen leads training and quality assurance efforts that reach throughout the entire company. Stephen, a Help Desk Institute (HDI) certified trainer, manages the internal training team that ensures the Technology Connection group has the skills necessary to provide superior service to all Wells Fargo team members who request technical assistance via telephone or computer. By structuring training for the Technology Connection team, Stephen’s efforts ensure team members have the ability to effectively service the daily needs of Wells Fargo’s customers. In leading the quality assurance team, Stephen provides services designed to enhance the overall team member experience with the help desk. In addition to his company roles, Stephen has a deep personal commitment to diversity. He is actively involved in leading several internal diversity councils and teams to advance Wells Fargo’s diversity commitment among its team members and toward creating an inclusive workplace.
COMMUNITY SERVICE - Michele Cheatham, Vice President, Technology Manger, Service Delivery Team As a Support Services manager for the Wells Fargo Advisors Service Delivery Team, Michele’s responsibilities include ensuring all technology projects, finance tasks, risk, change control, and team communications are all delivered successfully. Outside her challenging role, she applies the same vigor to her personal passion for diversity in helping the St. Louis African American community – particularly students. She is the founder and current leader of Future Aspirations, a non-profit college preparatory program supporting underserved youth in the St. Louis–area city and county public schools. She also volunteers as a board member of St. Louis’s Business Diversity Initiative Alumni Association, where her focus on Junior Achievement opportunities for middle and high school students makes a lasting impact. In her role with both organizations, she works to improve the lives and futures of African Americans residing in St. Louis.
COMMUNITY SERVICE - Millie Liggins, IT-Implementations Lead, Walgreen Company - Millie Liggins has a proven track record of providing untold effort, leveraging people resources and opportunities to support community-based organizations and professional organizations alike. Millie is the driving force and brain trust behind Walgreens’ African American Affinity Group, having consistently grown the organization in close partnership with Walgreens’ CIO, CEO and numerous leaders to establish clear value add and partnerships with Diversity Suppliers, Minority-owned Businesses and community organizations. Millie is committed to connecting corporate with community for mutually successful outcomes that exceed the immediate goal of "successful outcome” As a board member of The World Computer Exchange (WCE), Millie saw the opportunity to introduce a not-widely known organization in need of corporate computer donations to Walgreens IT Leaders. So far Millie and her team has shipped computers to, Senegalese, Piedras Negras, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Haiti. WCE is a global grassroots network with 600 formal partner organizations in 71 developing countries, 240 program officers, with hundreds of volunteers in 20 US & Canadian cities, 25 global education & environment strategic allies and UNDP, USAID, Rotary Clubs & Peace Corps Volunteers. WCE has shipped 28,800 computers to 42 countries to connect 2,700 schools that report connecting over 1 million youth a year, to current technologies. Millie became a WCE board member in 2010. Millie has helped to introduce numerous relationships among celebrities, media, and organizations. She has personally collaborated with and/or directly supported: Chicago’s First Black Inventors, Otis Wilson Foundation, University of Illinois Extension program, Jack and Jill of America, Motivational Speaker Marcus Gentry, SET Magazine, Mix Media Group, Sonya Martin Photography, Assured Health Care, Speed Program for Adaptive Learning, Offshore Technology, Hotsos Enterprises, Inc, American Cancer Society, and BDPA, among others!
